Volunteer Opportunities

Museum Experience Volunteers wanted immediately! 

The Sailing Museum and National Sailing Hall of Fame is open daily from 10am - 5pm.

Join the floor team to help visitors make the most of their experience.



~ Help demonstrate interactive exhibits to help make the most of the visitor experience

~ Engage with visitors by supporting interactive play and answering questions

~ Highlight Hall of Fame inductee stories

~ Provide insight into museum programs, services, memorabilia

~ Answer general visitor questions

~ Help support social media stories

~ Serve as an outreach ambassador at offsite kiosks or tables at community partnership events

~ Support special museum events as needed

~ Help monitor and troubleshoot unexpected situations as needed, such as exhibit damage



Skills 

~ Dependable and responsible

~ Great verbal and communication skills

~ Excellence in teamwork settings

~ Consistent positive outlook and patience 

~ Must be able to stand for a 4-hour floor shift, moving freely throughout the floor

~ Solid grasp of general interactive technology

~ Sailing or boating experience a plus

~ Knowledge of yachting history and Newport history a plus

~ Storytelling abilities a plus
