Boat Building Activity
Tuesday February 18, 2025, 11am – 4pm
Come visit The Sailing Museum & National Sailing Hall of Fame and build your own wooden sailboat amidst legends! We’ll work with you to construct, paint and even launch your own 9” wooden toy boat using a special kit that will allow you to take it home and sail it in a pool, lake or even your bathtub for younger adventurers. Appropriate for ages 5 and older, this event will be held in our second floor Mosbacher Room, transformed into a boat building space for the afternoon. Spend some time in our first floor Schoonmaker Hall and see how your boat compares to those displayed from the annals of history.
Activity details: Please anticipate roughly 30 minutes per boat, some may complete the activities faster than others! As this is a creative activity, there will be glue and paint so we suggest proper clothing that can be easily washable. And while we love our furry friends, dogs are not allowed in the museum and appreciate your understanding. Water is allowed in the museum, and bottles with lids are allowed in the Mosbacher Room.
Activity pricing: $15/pp with Winterfest wristband, $20 without
Newport Winterfest wristband holders also receive 15% museum admission!
Max capacity: 20 people at a time, join us anytime between 11 and 4.

Make your own Burgee
THursday February 20, 2025, 11am – 3pm
Family Fun at The Sailing Museum & National Sailing Hall of Fame, where we’ll set you up to create your very own burgee! What’s a burgee? Meet us in the legendary Mosbacher Room on the second floor to design your own burgee to take home! Spend some time within Schoonmaker Hall and our historic staircase to view famous burgees and gain inspiration for your own creation.
