Davis Island Yacht Club

The Davis Island Yacht Club is a private, member-owned yacht club situated at the south end of Davis Islands in Tampa, Florida. The Club grounds form a natural harbor and breakwater for our docks and a mooring area designated on charts as a seaplane basin.

Stories from Davis Island Yacht Club

The Club sponsors a heavy schedule of sailing races, an active cruising fleet and a strong youth sailing organization. It maintains continuing relationships with state and regional sailing organizations, is a founding member of the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs, and is a Golden Anchor participant in the United States Sailing Association. It provides limited support for members representing the Club in regional, national and international sailing races. Members participate heavily in local and regional events sponsored by other organizations. An active women’s sailing group, the Dinghy Dames, is part of the club.

Our facilities include wet and dry slips for our members’ boats, a boathouse for small sailing craft: prams, dinghies and one-design boats, a marine railway, clubhouse and swimming pool. Our dining room and bar serve members, their guests and participants in the numerous regattas and educational programs hosted by the Club. Our social functions link festivities to sailing activities. Our long-standing Thursday Night Races are open to any person wishing to sail and provides a good way for novices or newcomers to become better known to the membership.

Davis Island Yacht Club is honored to be counted among the Founding Member Clubs of the National Sailing Hall of Fame. As the first Founding Member Club from Florida, we encourage other Florida clubs to join in the support of the NSHOF. We are particularly proud that DIYC’s contribution to the Hall of Fame came from 100 individual members giving $100 each, comprising a widespread representation of our Club….including our longest standing member, our most recent new member, the Davis Island Youth Sailing Foundation, the Silver Gavel, the Dinghy Dames, J-24 Fleet 86, and 94 other loyal member/supporters of the “Sailingest Club in the South.”
The purpose of Davis Island Yacht Club is….”to promote sailing in all its forms…and maintain active relationships with other sailing organizations.” Support of the National Sailing Hall of Fame allows us that opportunity at the national level.
