Found in a historic waterfront building on Thames Street, once home to the America’s Cup press headquarters, The Sailing Museum is already set to be a fixture in the waterfront community of Newport. Its exhibits are designed to celebrate the sport’s long history, highlighting its heritage from around the world while introducing the museum’s youngest visitors to the wonders of sailing.

Developed by the same team behind The National Sailing Hall of Fame, The Sailing Museum is sure to educate and inspire enthusiasts and novices alike. Following years of interest in a museum dedicated to sailing, three years of building renovations (starting in 2019), and months spent planning exhibits and programming, The Sailing Museum opened its doors in May.

The museum features more than 11,000 square feet of interactive exhibits that chronicle the history of the sport while also honoring athletes and teams in the National Sailing Hall of Fame (formerly located in Annapolis, Maryland) and the America’s Cup Hall of Fame.
